But when your computer gets infected by a virus or an unwanted application, it creates files inside the windows folder or in the system folder etc, which are hidden. In such case if you use the windows search, the search results will skip the hidden files, and you will not be able to locate the virus files even if they are present on your computer. To deal with this situation, you need to Enable to View the Hidden Files/ Folders first. To do that in windows7 . Click on
Start > Control Panel > Folder Options
That will open the Folder options Window. Select the View tab in it. Under Advaanced settings, Look for an option named "Hidden Files and Folders" By default it would be set to "Do not show Hidden Files and Folders" if that is so, you need to select the radio button option named "Show Hidden Files and Folders" , and Press Apply button, Press Ok button.

Now that you can view the hidden files, you can go ahead with the search of the virus files and delete them. You can Turn the settings to hide the system files and folders again, once you have fiinshed removing the viruses on your hard disk.  All the best.
